| Summary: | In China, the freight locomotive operation faces many challenges: complex operating conditions, large number of groups, heavy loads and heavy driver’s workload. Driver’s operation mistake could lead to high longitudinal attacks, abnormal parking, over-speed and even broken hook of the freight train. The automated driving technology ensures driving consistency, reduces driver’s labor intensity, and improves train safety, punctuality, stability, travelling comfort and energy efficiency. To this end, this paper proposed an architecture of the freight locomotive automated driving system, and establishes its motion model. By planning the train target curves and using the intelligent model prediction method to calibrate the output power of the locomotive, the intelligent train speed following control is realized. Field applications show that the locomotive automated driving system can achieve full-train automatic driving. |
