description Some voices within Development Non-Governmental Organisations (DNGOs) defend the « repolitising of development », that is, rescuing the spirit of the social movements from which they born in order to carry out collective action. Based on a general analysis of the Spanish DNGOs’ sector and on two case studies of NGO campaigns in Spain, the Council Cooperation conflict in 2001 and the « Glivec Battle » since 2006, this article investigates the complex and contradictory relations between DNGOs and political and corporate powers. It concludes that the interactions between DNOGs and public administrations and firms present four main features: pre-eminence of negotiation over conflict, scarce resource to collective action, strong orientation towards mass-media in protest activity and high economic dependency. Moreover, it concludes that among Spanish DNGOs prevails subsidiarity over collective action. To sum up, this article assets that the discourse of « repolitisation » shows significant contradictions with the reality of Spanish DNGOs.
