Description
Summary:This paper, using a communications approach, presents an analytical grid for the integration of mergers and acquisitions. Founded on a constructionist vision of organizations, the grid defines integration as a process of « reorganization ». The grid shows that this « reorganization » is produced in a chain of diverse conversations : the war council, conclave, meetings between leaders, as well as between members of the reconstituted families, and conversations at work. This chain of local conversations is punctuated by key moments which mark the important steps in the process of integration the mergers and acquisitions : the realization of change and the reaction that this incites. After making the different elements of the grid explicit, this paper describes its limits and advantages and proposes possible avenues for future research.
