Description
Summary:The authors look at some strategies for using media space in connection with religious discourse. Brazil has provided a particularly interesting opportunity to observe the return of a religious discourse in the discussion space opened by mediatization. The analysis is based on comments posted on Facebook regarding the discourse and actions of the Parliamentary Evangelical Front during the vote on the Family Statute. Their objective is to show how framing operations undertaken by various groups in the dispute over the meaning of family can lead to expressions of intolerance and hatred while promulgating values and beliefs that preclude any dialogue in social media space.
