| Summary: | Blunt trauma to the eye can present with transient or permanent visual loss. Mere observation might lead to improvement of vision in cases of transient visual loss whereas those with photoreceptor and optic nerve damage, permanent loss of vision is inevitable. Early intervention might be needed in treatable cases to prevent such morbidity. We present two cases of blunt trauma, one with Sub macular haemorrhage (SMH) and the other with Commotio retinae(CR) with myopic shift. First case presented with SMH following stick injury in Left eye with VA of 5/60. He was given a trial of intravitreal anti-VEGF & topical steroids. Second one presented with CR with myopic shift following cricket ball injury with VA of 4/60, treated with intra-venous Methyl Prednisolone for three days followed by oral prednisolone. Both patients showed rapid visual improvement within a week. Non-surgical interventions like intravitreal anti-VEGF and steroids are alternative option for faster recovery and prevention of complications. |
