| Summary: | The Sustainable Cities Program aims to raise awareness and mobilize municipalities to develop economically, socially and in an environmentally sustainable manner, and offers an online platform that includes 260 indicators grouped into 12 themes, which help managers in formulating a Municipal Goals Plan in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations. This study aims to analyze the degree of sustainability of municipalities in the state of Amapá by calculating a Municipal Sustainability Index (ISM, Portuguese acronym), highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of municipalities in order to assist public policy managers in their decision making, as well as to stimulate the society in monitoring public management. We collected data through online databases, then standardized and aggregated according to the Human Development Index methodology. Each axis produced partial results and at the end a ranking was elaborated considering the performance of the municipalities according to ISM. Serra do Navio, Macapá and Santana stood out positively. The municipalities that stood out negatively were Cutias and Mazagão. |
