Such is the case of the drama in five acts adapted from La Curée and entitled Renée, which it’s interesting to examine the creating process. Indeed, during the ten years between the novel and its adaptation, Zola writes three other texts inspired by Les Rougon-Macquart: a short story, Nantas; the plan of a drama based on this short story and a storyline entitled Un homme à vendre. Therefore, it appears that La Curée and its variations constitute a short serie which raises the questions of theatrical adaptation and its practical needs. |
