Development of Ecological Flow Application Method Based on Improved IFIM

The instream flow incremental method (IFIM) plays an important role in the calculation of ecological flow. However,it is still faced with some problems, such as insufficient accuracy, limitation, and low universality.Drawing on references published in recent years, this paper systematically sorts out the...

description The instream flow incremental method (IFIM) plays an important role in the calculation of ecological flow. However,it is still faced with some problems, such as insufficient accuracy, limitation, and low universality.Drawing on references published in recent years, this paper systematically sorts out the steps and characteristics of the IFIM and summarizes IFIM-based methods of coupling different hydraulic models with habitat models. Then, the applicability of different hydraulic models is expounded, their advantages and disadvantages are comprehensively analyzed, and the future development trend of the improved IFIM is put forward. This research can provide a basis for the subsequent use of the habitat method to study the quantification of ecological flows at different scales.
