description A theoretical analysis of the forming defect in the hot rolling forming process of a hypoid gear wheel is performed. It is found that defects occur during the hot rolling process, such as “lugs”. The control variable method is used to carry on the numerical simulation test of hot rolling, the influence law of the speed of the mold, the feed speed of the mold, friction coefficient, temperature, etc on the rolling quality are studied. Through the analysis of the simulation process and the simulation results, the influence law of the process parameters on the roll forming is obtained, and the reasonable combination of process parameters is ultimately determined. The hot rolling bench experimental results show that the reasonable process parameter matching can indeed reduce the forming defects, such as lugs and uneven material flow.
