| description | Objective To study the effectiveness of centralized training for school health workers to enrich their knowledge about hypertension in children and adolescents. Methods A total of 422 pri-mary and secondary school health workers in Beijing were recruited to receive centralized teaching on hypertension among children and adolescents between June 2016 and December 2017. The effective-ness of the teaching was evaluated by using a questionnaire survey before and after the teaching ses-sions to measure knowledge levels. We used comparative analysis to evaluate the effect of the training on improving knowledge about hypertension among children and adolescents. Results A total of 390 participants attended all the training sessions and completed two valid questionnaires. The post train-ing total mean scores had increased by 8.4 points. The mean scores for the four areas, including preva-lence (18.6±4.4 vs. 16.7±4.3), risk factors (12.6±3.5 vs. 10.0±3.5), target organ damage (11.4±5.7 vs. 9.0±5.3), and interventions and treatments for hypertension in children and adolescents (16.0±6.7 vs. 14.6±5.9), had also all increased, and the difference was statistically significant (P |
