Description
Summary:The aim of this paper is to give a theoretical background of the discipline of language planning (hereafter LP), outlining the processes involved, its goals and aims, and the functions it serves. These will then be related to education and language teaching in an attempt to make teachers and course designers more aware of the broader sociocultural perspective within which they implement LP policies. Throughout the discussion aspects of the Turkish Language Reform will be used as a familiar case of language planning.
