Summary:This article presents a systematic literature review addressing the challenges encountered by Southeast Asian countries in the management of natural disasters. The review identifies significant issues, including deficiencies in disaster preparedness plans, early warning systems, response mechanisms, and investments in disaster management infrastructure. It underscores the significance of integrating disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation into policies and operational strategies. The review also delves into the vulnerability of specific demographic groups during disasters, the role of technology, social capital, and education in enhancing disaster preparedness, and the complexities involved in post-disaster recovery efforts. This article used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Studies were collected from the Scopus database. This article adhered to eligibility criteria, established methodology, and the PRISMA 2020 standard checklist. The findings underscore the necessity for the development of comprehensive decision support frameworks, enhanced risk perception and education, strategic positioning of emergency aid supplies, and integrated infrastructure. The article concludes by offering insights into the implications of these findings and presents guidelines for future disaster mitigation and management endeavors.
