Description
Summary:This contribution proposes to offer an updated scheme on the issue of the sources of the Libro de Alexandre. In particular, we wish to draw attention to three specific points that could be of considerable interest to the cultural contextualization of this fundamental work of romance literature: 1) the insertion, in the list of sources taken into consideration until now, of at least one text of Provençal origin; 2) the necessity of furthering the study of the medieval transmission of texts related to the history of Troy (offering, through an updated bibliography of the textual panorama of the Excidium Troiae, a possible model of study); 3) the cultural implications of the individuation of the source in the case of two textual sequences: the Babylonian lapidary and the calendar in Alexander’s tent.
