Description
Summary:This paper introduces an electrochemical method for DO measurements in the presence of hydrogen sulfide by means of membrane electrodes. The electrode is covered by a multilayer membrane system. A KOH layer near the electrode surface serves as the electrolyte. Another layer consists of a metal salt, in this case Cd(NO3)2, which is separated from the first layer by a membrane. H2S will react with the metal ion and is thus kept from penetrating through the electrolyte layer to the electrode surface. This electrode system will be helpful for kinetic studies in the H2S-O2 system and for oxygen measurements at the bottom of lakes or in sediments.
