The provision of a wounded community tools to represent and then overcome the pain in a social dimension are manifold. A field on which they can measure such instruments is that of transitional justice: a set of theories and practices relating to the processes through which companies try to come to terms with a history of atrocities, rendering justice to the victims of dictatorships, civil wars and other authoritarian regimes. The contribution I propose is a study of the narratives available to victims, the perpetrators and the state in transitional justice contexts. "Coming to terms" with the past means mainly take the responsibility to do justice: an ever negotiated justice through a specific legitimation process that has as pillars of its theoretical orientation and its actions, the research and knowledge of the truth through memory and the story of the witnesses.

Abstract
Gli strumenti a disposizione di una comunità ferita per rappresentare e poi superare il dolore in una dimensione sociale sono molteplici. Un campo su cui possono misurarsi tali strumenti è quello della giustizia di transizione: un insieme di teorie e pratiche relative ai processi attraverso cui le società provano a fare i conti con una storia di atrocità, rendendo giustizia alle vittime delle dittature, delle guerre civili e di altri regimi autoritari. Il contributo che propongo è uno studio sulle narrazioni a disposizione delle vittime, dei carnefici e dello Stato nei contesti di giustizia di transizione. “Venire a patti” con il passato significa principalmente assumersi la responsabilità di fare giustizia: una giustizia sempre negoziata attraverso un processo specifico
di legittimazione che pone come pilastri del proprio orientamento teorico e della propria azione, la ricerca e la conoscenza della verità attraverso la memoria e il racconto dei testimoni.
