Description
Summary:Examining how proper nouns are treated in general language dictionaries and proper name dictionaries throws light on the mainly encyclopaedic approach that these works have adopted. However, the linguistic deficit of proper name dictionaries can be corrected by weighting frequency of the occurrences as criterion of selection and by giving information on the proper noun as a linguistic sign.
