description Up-to-date hardware and software equipment permits to measure brightness, color, geometrical and other characteristics of the objects in accordance with their digital images. In this case the basic criteria of the digital image quality are the following: distance area of possible object identification and linear dependence of a measured target signal on CCD-MATRIX camera luminosity. The proposed technique for brightness measurement of local image portions can be used while carrying out photometric tests of vehicle lighting equipment (headlights, lanterns). A physical model of an object to be measured is developed, color modes are considered and an algorithm of data processing in Matlab system is given in the paper.
