Description
Summary:The thermal EHL is simulated by an aviation lubricating oil HKD-1 in a point contact under heavier load and computed the shear stress distributions at a roller surface. The computed results by using two different rheological models are compared and are examined by the traction test. The results show that the non-Newtonian characteristic of lubricants is more important for heavier load (p0>1GPa) in EHL. As slide-to-roll ratio increasing, the shear stress rises. The predicted stresses by using the Evans-Johnson model are more accurate than those by using the Newtonian model. When the slide-to-roll ratio is large, the predicted shear stress distribution by using the Newtonian model is distortion.
