Summary:Primary nutritional and functional components of Noni leaf were determined, and the antioxidant activities of water extract, petroleum ether extract, ethyl acetate extract, chloroform extract and n-butanol extract of Noni leaves and Vc were studied and compared by using methods of hydrogen peroxide system, superoxide radical system, hydroxyl radical system and Oyaizu. The result shows that Noni leaf had good nutritional and functional value, at the same time, all extracts exhibited excellent antioxidant activity; the rank of antioxidant activity of them in the hydrogen peroxide system was Vc>BE>CE>EAE>PEE>WE; that in superoxide radical system was Vc>BE>EAE>WE>PEE>CE; that in hydroxyl radical system was Vc>BE>CE>EAE>PEE>WE; while the order of the reducing ability was BE>EAE>WE>PEE>CE. All the five extracts had antioxidant activities, whose antioxidant abilities increased with increasing their concentrations, and they had different free radical scavenging activity at the different free radical systems.
