description [Objective] To evaluate the expression of protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), and to analyze the role of PTK7 protein expression in OSCC and its impact on the prognosis of patients. [Methods] We collected 113 specimens of OSCC, and the PTK7 protein expression was determined by streptavidin perosidase (SP) method. The chi‐square test and Kaplan‐Meier analysis were used for the analysis of the expression of PTK7 protein and the OSCC clinical related factors. [Results] In the 113 OSCC specimens, PTK7 protein expressed positive was found in 70 cases, PTK7 protein expressed negative was found in the para‐cancer area. The PTK7 expression intensity was not significantly associated with the patients' age, gender,differentiation degree, clinical stage, tumor size, local infiltration extent and lymph node metastasis (P≥0.05). Kaplan‐Meier survival analysis showed that the survival rate of PTK7 negative patients was significantly higher than that of positive patients (P<0.05). [Conclusion] These findings suggested that the detection of PTK7 protein may aid in the comprehensive assessment of OSCC outcome.Further research for direct measurement are needed.
