| Summary: | The purpose of this article is to set out and put together the methodological conditions to have sets of standard and comparable educational spending in due course. The article points out how and why the statistical data have to be organized inside coherent accounts to be able to identify properly the various financial sources and how they are allocated to the different sources of spending. The article explains the long gestation of this conceptual framework from the middle of the XIXth century and how the indicators evolve according to the conditions in which the society organizes the knowledge passing on to the young generations. |
