description This study explores the reception of Golemanov, a play by the famous Bulgarian comedian Stefan L. Kostov, from both literary-historical and theatrical perspectives. The play premiered on the stage of the National Theatre in Belgrade on 21 March, 1935. The basic comedic and poetic features of this comedy are analyzed, with direction led by the renowned director, theater expert, and pedagogue Josip Kulundžić. Some of the most famous Serbian comedians took part in the cast. The performance was extremely well received by the audience, and even typically harsh Serbian theatre critics were more lenient in their reviews of Golemanov. Reviewers gave special to comparing the works of Kostov and B. Nušić. While some offered differing opinions, others reaffirmed the ongoing difficulty of interpreting comedy.
