Description
Summary:Social media has allowed the emergence of discursive spaces where minority groups can share their concerns. Over the past ten years, we have seen the development of an original experiment in Acadie : the webzine Astheure. Its collaborative approach enables anyone to submit texts on social issues affecting Acadian society, politically, economically or culturally. In this article, I study the texts published in Astheure focused on linguistic issues. Through a thematic and critical analysis, I look at which issues are put forward, by whom, how they are treated and what reception they receive. This topic accounts for about a fifth of the webzine’s content. My results show that language issues’ treatment is quite different when the status of language is discussed (mostly by specialists), on the one hand, from when language use is discussed (mostly by speakers themselves, sharing their lived experience and feelings), on the other hand.
