Summary: | The present article proposes to discuss how the water crisis and the technological and financial differentiation has influenced the productive process of certain cultures. From this discussion, a reflection will also be made on the changes in the agricultural productive structure of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, especially with regard to the organizational logics of modern agriculture (irrigated fruit) and family agricultural production, in the face of drought, in the eleven municipalities that have the largest reservoirs in the state. For this, some methodological strategies were used, such as: bibliographical research on water crisis and agricultural technical systems; acquisition of data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics - IBGE, the National Department of Works against drought - DNOCS, the Agricultural Research Company of Rio Grande do Norte - EMPARN, and the Secretariat of Environment and Water Resources of Rio Great North - SEMARH. It is concluded from the strategies used that the agricultural productive structure of the state of Rio Grande do Norte is organized in a dichotomous way, with two very distinct groups of producers: on the one hand the small producers of family agriculture, with smaller technological- financial, less state assistance, and greater dependence on rainfall; and on the other hand, producers linked to modern agriculture, from the field of irrigated fruit production, who have high capitalization and technological structuring, making them less dependent on the state and natural conditions of precipitation, and with greater production capacity. |
