| Summary: | The following article aims to identify the representations created through the discourse of the newspapers El Tiempo and El Espectador around the migrants families. To that end, the articles published in these newspapers from the end of the 90s to December 31st, 2006 were analyzed. We will address the analysis from the perspective of transnationalism and the new economy of migrations. The results showed a negative representation of international migration for the nuclear and extended families. In that way, the character of migration as a family project is disregarded as with the emergence into the families of new roles, bonds or affections due to migration. |
