| description | The objective of this article is to describe the role played by songs in the process of peasant organization in the province of Formosa (Argentina) during the 1960s. In order to fulfill said purpose, the present text inquires on the different sociability spaces through which the peasants circulated and where they encountered songs of different genres. The article is structured upon the premise that the song was an important device used by the different ecclesiastical and governmental institutions present in the provincial rural environment. In this way, the song was a privileged means when it came to expressing demands, voice denunciations and represent the social reality. This use of music occurred in a context in which a significant number of artists included social problems -mainly rural ones- in the lyrics of their songs. |
