description The social and solidarity economy (SSE) is a term currently being defined that adds together the concepts of the social economy and the solidarity economy. The development of SSE, as an alternative to capitalism, feeds on different geographical traditions but with intercontinental resonances. In this article, we review the conceptualization of SSE and its articulation in Brazil and Catalonia - where SSE has strong roots - to identify the organizations and tools essential for their furtherance in these geographical locations. The analysis allows us to observe how theSSE has been articulated in each territory, what tools have been developed to evaluate its implementation and what we need to learn from its overall evolution. Bibliographic, documentary and statistical research constitutes the main methodological basis for the study, followed by a correlated analysis aimed at obtaining models allowing us to obtain more in-depth and detailed results, in particular by the construction of maps, cartograms, graphs and maps, and images. The main sources of research were the reports published by institutions such as SENAES, SOLTEC / UFRN and PAM PAM, whose statistical databases have largely underpinned the present study, thus making it possible to deepen the analysis through the models generated, together with crossover data and theoretical and conceptual work. The results allow us to affirm the importance of the movement of social and solidarity economies in Brazil and Catalonia. Despite the observed territorial differences, the movement remains consolidated, attached to the territory and well-articulated. They follow common principles, values and operating principles, with a focus on cooperation, association, equality, solidarity, community, sharing, citizen participation and mutual aid. In the case of Catalonia, the Brazilian experience in networks and strategies for dissemination of ideas and movement building, such as the Pam Pam network, has played a strong inspirational role.
