Description
Summary:Agriculture of the Bajío region once gave birth to an agri-food industry as well as a leather’s; since the mid-1990s, the concentration of industrial activities, especially linked to the automobile sector, is at the origin of a new industrial estates, that is an authentic industrial corridor stretching from Leon to Querétaro. Owing to their specific locations and landscapes, these recent developments differ strongly from older industrial districts surrounded by built-up areas. The role of foreign investment is crucial in explaining their appearance, combined with that of public actors, even though municipalities' involvement may seem less decisive than that of business interests.
