Summary:Also most important things for libraries are selection and acqusition of the periodicals and serials. Because, the preodicals content current information published in the world and they are more expensive then the other type of library materials. In recent years, by the increasing costs, many libraries cancelled subscribtion of the periodicals in their own collection. When the cancellation of any periodical is done, librarians have to give attantion to some techniques or methods in their works. In addition to, they have to know main princible of the cancellation methods or techniques and they have to test the reliability, validity and economic feasibility at the same time. These techniques or methods are known as; reshelving, faculty advice, prepared cancell / subscribtion lists, taking method citation analysis, librarian's profession judgement, cost-per-use methods. In this research, selection of the best technics or methods in the different libraries are examined closly.
