Description
Summary:Raúl Ruiz is essentially known as a filmmaker. Nevertheless, he is also the author of a vast although mostly unpublished body of literature. To approach this still underappreciated aspect of his artistic activity, which also includes the practice of installation, we will focus on another ignored field: his Italian production. Indeed, Ruiz, who is very fluent in Dante’s tongue, has directed his own plays in Italy, published three books, conceived and projected two installations, and directed a few almost invisible films. This territory, which is more or less a virgin one in the area of research, will allow us to interrogate how Ruiz relates to the notion of territory, as well as his deterritorializing approach of artistic mediums.
