Description
Summary:Objective:To explore the effect of manipulation combined with treadmill training on delaying skeletal muscle atrophy after peripheral nerve injury. Methods:According to the computer random numbers, 96 male SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: normal control group, model control group and manipulation group, with 32 rats in each group. The model of the sciatic nerve transection of the outer membrane suture was established, the manipulation group was given manipulation therapy combined with treadmill training, the normal control group and the model control group without intervention. At 2, 3, 4 and 8 weeks after the intervention, wet weight and the number of muscle satellite cells of gastrocnemius muscle was detected in a group of 8 rats. Results:Compared with the model control group, the wet weight of gastrocnemius muscle increased steadily, and at 4th week was significantly higher than that in the model control group (P<0.05). The number of muscle satellite cells in the early stage was higher than that in the control group, after 4th week was lower than the model control group. Conclusion:Manipulation combined with treadmill training can delay the atrophy of skeletal muscle after peripheral nerve injury, and promote the proliferation and differentiation of skeletal muscle satellite cells into mature muscle fibers, which may be one of the ways to delay skeletal muscle atrophy.
