Description
Summary:The topicality of the Romanian novel can be considered one of the most important subjects approached by critics in the literary press of the ʼ70s. The ”modern novel” emphasizes especially the originality, novelty, and depth of ideas, a detail that can be easily found in the Romanian literary production between 1975-1978. The present case study is intended to be a demonstration of the close connection between literature and current events on the one hand and, on the other hand, the combination of realism with the other two elements. Therefore, it can be appreciated that topicality becomes not only a common constant but establishes a relationship in both literary and critical work, applied directly to the text. The direct consequence will be that the dominant orientation in the novel of these years is towards the event, intended as social, political but also historical, a fact demonstrated by the vast majority of works that create the narrative landscape of the mid ʼ70s.
