Description
Summary:This diachronic research and literature review offers a synthesis of the connection and at times the symbiosis between writing and scientific research. Scientific knowledge dates back to time immemorial, but it is a type of knowledge borne out in writing and written documents. This interplay reflects what makes science an act of both production and knowledge, a blend of authorship and logical and rhetorical inscribing. Writing is at once the basic substance and the final form of research writing; it conditions how the research is used and subsequently reused with reading. Form is the textual and documentary fabric that weaves together exposition and argument. Substance encompasses both the ideas and their problematization, the research process, its operationalization, and the act of reading—and quoting—works.
