The article considers the possible causes of excessive anterior lens capsule contraction syndrome, as well as the methods of preventing and treating this complication. Based on the review, a relationship was established between the size of capsulorhexis and the development of phimosis of the anterior capsule of the lens. The survey outlines the features of various
intraocular lenses materials and the influence of their peculiarities and characteristics on the condition of the capsular bag. The article describes the risk factors for the development of excessive anterior lens capsule contraction syndrome, such as pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PES), glaucoma, retinal dystrophy, high degree myopia and hypermetropia, uveitis, post-traumatic conditions. The data of clinical studies are given proving the necessity of the prevention of fibrosis of the anterior lens capsule when several risk factors are combined in one eye. The treatment methods of this complication are analyzed. It is established that the YAG laser capsulotomy method is an effective, safe and low-traumatic treatment of this complication, and if it is impossible to use this method, the surgical or combined treatment methods can be used. The aim of the study is to summarize the available data.
