Description
Summary:In management research, emotions are often studied with a quantitative methodology. However, many researchers agree that qualitative analysis provides greater depth. The aim here is to investigate the disadvantages of a quantitative study in an online questionnaire on a subject such as that of emotions and to present an alternative methodology. Following a test study carried out with an online questionnaire on group emotional labour in the context of mediated collaborative work, the reactions of the participants and their answers revealed problems of understanding, design, and/or acceptance. These biases were then deciphered, after which, on the same grounds, a second study used netnographic methodology to combine the quantitative and qualitative. The results obtained show that, in specific contexts and for specific subjects, the latter can help to resolve the biases encountered in the former.
