Description
Summary:This article develops an analytical framework of what shapes the Trump administration foreign policy decision-making. It also aims to apply this framework to the relations between the United States and Central America and the Caribbean. We focus our efforts on three major priorities of the Trumpian foreign policy regarding this region, which are: the fight against immigration, the reconsideration of the normalization of relations with Cuba started under Barack Obama, and finally the reassertion of the Monroe Doctrine and the formulation of a new “axis of evil”. For each of these themes, we underline the actions the Trump administration undertook and then show to what extent they can be explained through our analytical framework.
