| Summary: | A new form of Phyllostachys edulis (Poaceae: Bambusoideae) in Zhejiang in China has been discovered, and this paper describes it and determines its taxonomic status. Using observations and a morphological comparison, the distinguishing characteristics between the new form and the typical form have been obtained. The sprouting time of the shoots of the new form is 5–10 days later than the typical form. All parts of the culm sheaths of the new form are purple-red to different degrees, and the culm blade is more slender and slightly wrinkled, with the oral setae being more developed. |
