description On the basis of explaining the principle of frame synchronization in data link level, we analyze quantitatively the frame synchronization performance of two kinds of data link protocols as GFP and HDLC, which are all used in broadband IP transmission networks. The results show that with the high realization performance, high transmission efficiency and high transmission speed, GFP is more suitable for next generation IP transmission networks.
