Description
Summary:Luteolin is a flavonoid that occurs naturally in various fruits and vegetables. It has been shown that this compound possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which can significantly inhibit pathogenesis. A substantial amount of research has been performed to execute this compound’s role as an anticancer agent. Moreover, luteolin has the ability to block cell proliferation, inflammation, angiogenesis, and other cell signaling molecules that can contribute to cancer growth. This review aims to shed light on the efforts to present potential targets for luteolin in different cancers. Moreover, this review also explores the synergistic potential of this compound with other anticancer drugs. Despite its promising health-promoting benefits, it is essential to note that further research is needed based on safety, mechanism of action, efficacy, and clinical trials to reconnoiter its potential benefits in cancer management.
