Summary: | The efficacy of flumethrin (Bayticol 1 % pour-on, Bayticol 05 % pour-on and Bayticol EC 6%) was tested against tick infestation of the sheep and goats under field conditions in Bekçitepe village of Elazığ.
All of the sheep and goats were found to be infested with different species of ticks before treatment. The majority of ticks was Rhipicepalus bursa. In addition, R. sanguineus and Hyalomma excavatum were detected on these animals in small amount.
Bayticol pour-on was used at the dose rates of approximately 0.5 mg/kg and 1 mg/kg on the sheep and goats along the backline of each animal. Bayticol EC 6% as 0.003 percent and 0.005 percent concentrations (20 and 30 ppm) was used by dipping the sheep and goats in a suitable tank.
Both of the dip and pour-on treatment of flumethrin provided effective control and was found to have a protective period of four weeks on sheep and three weeks on goats. |
