| Summary: | Casa da Imagem (Vila Nova de Gaia), opened in 2012, is a space dedicated to culture, art and mediation, comprising the preservation of a photographic collection and a former printing industry factory. In this article, we reflect on the context of Casa da Imagem’s performance and the process of creation and development of its museum, the Casa das Imagens’ Museeum. In this context, we discuss the approaches and actions implemented over the last years, identifying the theoretical references that underlie the patrimonialisation process. This analysis clarifies concepts but also problematizes the tensions brought by the artistic and mediation practices at Casa da Imagem. The methodology followed is based on direct and participant observation, in which the author takes part in the process under study, as well as on literature review. This article, based on the analysis of a case study, contributes to a reflection on the articulation between theory and practice in a museological context. |
