description Case studies on women are abundant, particularly on women in rural areas, in Mexico. However, northern Jalisco and in particular the ranchero society that lives there has been neglected. In this article I will present the case study of a ranchero woman. The research is in a ranchera society in western Mexico, in Colotlán, Jalisco, a society in which livestock is the economic activity that articulates social and cultural life. In it, women have been consigned to domestic life and family care. However, in the last decades of the 20th century there have been political, economic, and social changes that have modified the relations between men and women and the sexual division of labor in a free market economy.
