description Osteoporosis, a common postmenopausal disease in women, is the result of progressive bone loss. It is worldwide considered as a public health problem that either invalidates or incapacitates a large number of persons, being a multifactorial illness whose most important danger besides the estrogen role are the behavior factors (physical inactivity, dietary calcium deficiency) which can easily be modified. Prevention of osteoporosis must start since childhood and follow for a lifetime and special attention must be given to women when they approach menopause. However, keeping hormonal balance, practicing exercises and having a good nutrition calcium intake proved to be the best preventive actions against this disease. The aim of this study was to collect evidences of the influence of physical activity on osteoporosis in menopausal women.
