Description
Summary:This article examines Benjamin's contribution to the field of children's literature by bringing out Walter the depicted, the sensitive figure of Benjamin as a child. In doing so, the hitherto unknown elected affinity between Benjamin and Der Struwwelpeter is revealed and further explored by taking up the thread established by the author with this children's book, first published in 1844. Der Struwwelpeter was written by Dr. H. Hoffmann, and the book’s great success continues to this day, yet raises many questions about the cruel nature it initially displayed.
